Luxury hotels in Venice abound yet many disappoint. A few however epitomize the glamour, history and opulence of Venice.
I have selected the five hotels that I truly believe to be exceptional.
All these hotels seem to capture the elegance of Venice Italy.
In most of these hotels the centuries of Venetian history can be felt in every room, in every corner.
I believe these to be the finest luxury hotels in Venice. A few are amongst the best in the world.
The Bauer Palladio Hotel & Spa is in my opinion the best of all the luxury hotels in Venice. The service is impeccable, the hotel immaculate and the location is superb. What could be better than staying on magical Giudecca Island in a restored 16th century convent designed by the greatest architect the Veneto has ever produced –Andrea Palladio. Beautifully restored the Luna Hotel Baglioni is magnificently opulent, perfectly located and ideal for a romantic stay in Venice. Try to book one of the luxury junior suites as the double rooms can be a little small. The Canova restaurant is a very good place to try local cuisine at its best. This is perhaps the second best of the luxury hotels in Venice - click here for more photos, reviews and booking advice.
The Metropole Hotel
is right in the heart of Venice and just off St Marks Square. This is a
hotel that is impossible to fault; everything about the Metropole hotel
is perfect. The restaurant is superb and the breakfast is the best you
will get in Venice. Make sure you ask for a room with a lagoon view,
though it may cost a little more it is worth it.

Certainly the most exclusive luxury hotel in Venice though no longer, in my opinion, the best. The hotel is part of the Orient Express Hotel Group and this hotel is the most opulent in Venice.
If you can afford it stay in the magnificent Dogaressa Suite, with quite lovely views of St. Mark's square, this suite is for the truly discerning.
Visit the hotel’s site here. The Hotel Danieli is magnificent. The sumptuous elegance of this 14th century palace is apparent from the moment you enter the lobby.
The Hotel Danieli would once have been in my top two but service
can be a little patchy and snobbish so I now rate it fourth or fifth.
Make no mistake though this is a fabulous hotel and perhaps the most
romantic hotel in Venice.
