What Foods to Expect in Veneto
by Alesha Wilson
Italy is such an interesting place to visit. Once you set foot in this country, you will soon
find yourself surrounded with friendly people, amazing structures and views, and of course,
delectable dishes. You should make the most out of your visit in Italy and try out as many
dishes as you can. The most popular choices you have to try first are:1. Seafood.
On the coastal regions in Veneto, including Venice, seafood is very popular. Along this coast
you can taste freshly caught fish, clams, prawns, and shrimps. These can be made in soups, used as toppings, or turned into fresh salad.2. Pasta.
There are many different kinds of pastas in Italy, especially in Veneto. Indulge
yourself in ravioli, bigoli, fettuccine, gnocchi, tortelli, and many others. These can be
served with different kinds of meats including seafood, chicken, and pork. Some popular pasta dishes are also made meatless for the vegetarian appetite. You will often find fresh tomatoes, basil, and olives in there, along with a hefty serving of Parmesan or Grana Padano cheese on top.3. Grilled Meats.
Veneto also has a lot of barbecued meats to satisfy your cravings. Polenta, a popular food in Veneto, can be grilled together with some cheese and mushroom. They also grill their vegetables to go with grilled chicken, beef, or pork.
These are just some recommendations, so you should not limit your food choices to these.
Make sure that you eat a variety of dishes.
Also note that Italy is known for a variety of
sauces, so don’t settle for only one. There are cheese sauces, tomato sauces, pesto, and
many others to delight in. They go well with rice, risotto, pasta, and even bread. In fact,
you can take home some of these sauces or try to learn to make them so that you can have a piece of Veneto in your own home.
