Irresistible Venice and Verona

You may enjoy a week exploring Venice and Verona. You'll visit all the main tourist sights and yet you've actually seen next to nothing. Spend another week discovering some of the less well known sites - like these ones in Venice. Now you've scratched the surface.

To really get to know these cities you need a third week. It is then that you start to notice the myriad of tiny things you never noticed before.

Those first weeks are always a mad rush, charging from one spot to another, but after a couple of weeks you've slowed down to Italian rhythms. This is a dangerous time as this is how Italian towns enchant you...you've been warned!!!

Anyway, I try to share some of this "third week" magic through the site and my bucket list article too.

However, it is photos that are best at capturing these little things that many miss.  I always take as many as I can and now I have some wonderful helpers - the members of our Facebook community.

Eveline is one of this community, she has a real eye for capturing the little details and those forgotten corners that many miss. I think you'll really enjoy her photos...if you do please show Eveline your appreciation by clicking like below and sharing the photos far and wide.

Ciao

Narrow lane venice

These little back alleys are marvellous. I love losing myself down these mazes and you'd be amazed at the funny little, yet fascinating, shops and sights I've discovered while "lost". In fact just getting to our favorite hotel in Venice, the Old Post Office, basically means getting lost right from the start of your time in Venice.

If you spend the time exploring the alleys of Venice you'll discover some amazing doorways, with door knobs and inlaid wooden doors that are simply beautiful.

These two photos above were taken in Saint Marks Square, a place that is always packed with tourists yet few ever take the time to notice the details on the buildings. If you do you'll be amazed.

Arena Verona

The Arena is one of the main tourist attractions of Verona (discover its secrets here). What I love about this photo is the way Eveline has captured an aspect of it that is so different from the normal view.

Juliet wall Verona

Near Juliet's balcony in Verona there is a wall where those in love can write their names and ensure their love will never die. I wrote my name here over fifteen years ago...I'm still married!!
