Venice Treviso Airport & Getting to Venice
Our guide to getting INto Venice from Venice Treviso Airport
Getting to Venice and the rest of the Veneto from the UK is simple and
prices are very cheap, particularly if you are a little flexible with
your travel dates.
Options are varied but from my personal experience I have
found that the British Airways flights to Venice are the best. They offer pretty
good prices and a reliable service. Before you book anything though run your dates through Kayak, they aggregate all the best deals and offer some amazing bargains.
One advantage they have over Ryanair is that if you are going to
Venice they fly into Venice Marco Polo, which is the actual Venice
airport.
Easy Jet is probably a good second best. They have flights from Gatwick, Bristol and Nottingham into Venice Marco Polo.
Next is Ryanair – excellent for cheap flights to Venice
Italy but the service can be poor. They have flights leaving from Luton,
Liverpool and Stanstead.
Both Easy Jet and Ryanair sometimes offer such silly prices that
it makes sense to put up with bad service and anyway the service isn’t
that bad – normally.
When Venice ISN'T Venice
Ryanair say that they fly into Venice but the flights are actually into Treviso or Venice Treviso
as Ryanair calls it. Treviso airport is a fairly long way from Venice.
If you do fly into Treviso Airport then the cheapest way to get from
Treviso to Venice is with the ATVO Eurobus – just ask airport information for details. A return ticket
costs 22 Euros and the journey time is an hour and fifteen minutes.
Should you prefer to avoid the hassle of getting the normal bus, and then walking miles to your hotel, my advice would be a direct shuttle. Of course these often cost more than the flight so they aren't suitable for poor old souls like me but, well, um, maybe you can afford it.
The advantage is that they take you to Venice and then by water-taxi straight to your hotel. Here is the best option which you should book before you leave.
Treviso (view guide here) is a lovely city though so maybe spend a day here before heading into Venice.
