The Metropole Hotel in Venice

The Metropole Hotel in Venice has to have one of the best positions of any hotel in the city located as it is just off St Marks Square.

I really do like the Metropole and have always found it to be a well run place, the restaurant too is superb and is one of the best in Venice, if I remember correctly it is one of only two Michelin starred restaurants in Venice.

Despite the great quality the food is a little expensive and you can always get the hotel to recommend somewhere cheaper or try the restaurants we have on the site Metropole hotel in Venice Italy .

Breakfast in the Citrus Garden Courtyard is a lovely way to start the day on a warm summer’s morning and the food really is abundant and delicious. However the courtyard is only open from May through to September and the rest of the year breakfasts are indoors which is nowhere near as nice, the food of course is the same but the atmosphere is not a patch on the courtyard.

When you book at the Metropole make sure you get a room with a balcony and a view over the lagoon, it costs more but I can assure you it is worth the money. If your room does have a balcony then this has to be one of the most romantic hotels in Venice. You can count on an unforgettable honeymoon or romantic getaway enjoyed in the lap of luxury.

Negative points?

Well the prices are a bit high and some of the staff can seem a little bit snobbish at first but once you get to know them you will find they really aren’t and if you have any problems during your stay speak to Aurelio Bon, the Assistant Manager, he really bends over backwards to help.

The problem is more a cultural thing anyway, many Italians prefer staff to not be “familiar” whereas to people from the USA and other English speaking countries their detached demeanor can appear unfriendly and snobbish.
